They range from ore processing to battery manufacturing

Extremadura continues to position itself at the forefront of the green and circular economy thanks, among other factors, to its firm commitment to the exploitation of the lithium resource closely linked to the development of the electric vehicle value chain in the region.

Up to 4 major projects are already in their early stages of development and implementation in as many locations in Extremadura, from lithium extraction and refining production to the manufacture of batteries.

The aid they have obtained from the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Tourism, in the second call of the Strategic Project for the Recovery and Economic Transformation of the Electric and Connected Vehicle (PERTE VEC II) has been an important support for these projects.

Other investors related to lithium batteries have also put their focus on Extremadura: Invest in Extremadura is providing them with personalized technical support – soft landing – so that they can become a reality in the near future.

Lithium has become the new white gold of technological development and one of the core elements of the green and circular economy. Thanks to the enormous resources that the territory of Extremadura treasures in this strategic mineral, the existence of a large industrial area of immediate availability, the excellent business climate and legal certainty, as well as the institutional support at all times, Extremadura continues to offer great opportunities for foreign direct investment.
