Extremadura is at the centre of the new industries of the future Large investment projects will mobilize more than 10,000 M€ of investment and create thousands of highly qualified jobs

10 Out 2022

The Extremadura region is experiencing an industrial reconversion with projects around e-commerce, high technology or business sustainability. Some projects will generate economic growth, investment and, above all, employment:

The strategy consists of attracting and adapting to the needs of business projects, streamlining administrative processes and urban regularization, offering industrial land of immediate availability equipped with all services and making available advantageous financial support instruments. In 2021, Extremadura broke a historical record of activity in the sale of industrial land and business warehouses, which has allowed the development of powerful investments that exceed 225 million euros and will allow the creation of more than 1,200 jobs in the region. The following should be highlighted:

-          Amazon: An e-commerce giant that has chosen Badajoz as one of the main centers of its logistics network in Spain. On an industrial land of 200,000m2 in the Logistics Platform of the Iberian Southwest has built a warehouse of 59,000 m2, in which around 900 people will work.

-          CC Green in Cáceres: The project aims to become the first carbon-neutral data center. An 'ecopolygon' developed by Ingenostrum that will have up to seven office buildings for technology companies and capacity for 1,400 employees. Its philosophy is 100% green.

-          Diamond Foundry: The semiconductor factory from synthetic diamonds that the American company will implement in the Cáceres town of Trujillo, involves an investment of € 670 M and the creation of 300 direct jobs. It will manufacture artificial gems from sunlight, a technology that is increasing its demand globally with applications in 5G communication networks and the electric vehicle industry.

Other major projects will be tangible in the coming months, most of them linked to electric mobility and green energy. The large amount of solar radiation that the region receives, together with the availability of a large reserve of land for photovoltaic plants, attracts investors concerned about the cost of energy that supports industrial activities.

Invest in Extremadura, as well as other departments of the Extremadura Government, provide support to investors who wish to materialize their investment projects in the Extremadura region, ensuring the best time frames and facilitating a soft landing.
