Two new projects of regional interest (PREMIA) are declared in Extremadura due to their positive impact on employment and the productive fabric

20 Jun 2024

On 18 June, the Government of Extremadura approved the declaration of two new Business Projects of Regional Interest (PREMIA), a qualification granted to initiatives with a significant impact on employment and the productive fabric, and which in this case are destined for Cáceres and Navalmoral de la Mata.

The first initiative is dedicated to mining and the first industrial transformation of the lithium resource of Valdeflórez (Cáceres), which entails an investment of more than 1,430 million euros and the generation of more than 700 jobs, presented by the company Castilla Mining. Its goal is to supply 2 million tons per year of this mineral to the processing plant to produce around 33,300 tons of finished product.

The other initiative is presented by the company Pharmaweed Pro to start up a plant for the production and transformation of medical cannabis for the pharmaceutical industry, in Navalmoral de la Mata. It will have an investment of 18.5 million euros and will generate between 35 and 42 jobs, and will be located in the Expacio Business Park in Navalmoral de la Mata, with an area of almost 87,000 square meters.

The objective of the declaration of a business project such as PREMIA, generates benefits such as the priority and urgent management of regional procedures or the direct granting of employment-related subsidies. From the Ministry of Economy, Employment and Digital Transformation, we are working hand in hand with companies for economic growth and the generation of stable and quality employment.
