The European Commission approved in March an investment of 265 million euros to improve more than 178 kilometers of the railway connection that makes up the 715-kilometer Madrid-Lisbon high-speed line. Specifically, the section in which the investment will take place is Plasencia-Cáceres-Badajoz.

"This will favor the transport of goods and long-distance passengers, with the consequent economic and environmental benefits," explain the Commission, recalling that the project is part of the Atlantic Corridor of the trans-European transport network, which connects south-western Europe. with the rest of the EU.

This investment is the only Spanish project in the package approved in Brussels with a total of 1,400 million euros of EU funds.
