Extremadura's export sector gains weight in regional GDP

05 janv. 2024

A revealing fact of the growth of the Extremaduran economy is the weight that exports are increasingly having in the GDP. What do you have in mind in this area?

Indeed, Extremadura's exports grew by 9.2% year-on-year and 3.3% up to September. In Spain as a whole, the increase up to September is only 0.3%. The trade surplus up to that month soared to 595 million. A year ago it was 547 million, or 9%. The coverage ratio stands at 135% as of September. Within the EU, exports have fallen by 1.2%, maintaining a negative trend in the last three quarters.

The growth in GDP and consolidation of exports is one of the great commitments of the Government of María Guardiola, where we will work to increase the weight of the Extremaduran export sector in the regional economy, diversifying the destinations of Extremadura's export of goods and services, improving the qualification and professionalization of personnel working in the field of internationalization and promoting qualified employment in foreign trade.  through different aid programs.

All this with the aim of promoting an environment of competitiveness for internationalised Extremaduran companies, which will allow access to and exploitation of international programmes, in which Extremadura's products and resources will be promoted abroad. To this end, the Extremadura-based company relies on the support provided by the 11 commercial delegations that cover 22 regional areas abroad.
