IBERDROLA WILL BUILD IN 3 RENEWABLE YEARS THAT WILL ADD THE SAME POWER AS ALMARAZ

08 Apr 2019

Million dollar investments in renewable energy in Extremadura to replace nuclear energy in the medium term. Iberdrola, one of the three companies that owns the Almaraz plant, yesterday defined its commitment to a new 'green' energy model and confirmed that it will launch 2,000 new megawatts (photovoltaic and wind) in the region until the year 2022. That power corresponds to an investment of some 1,500 million euros. 2,000 megawatts (MW) are precisely the same as the Almaraceña plant whose closing date should be definitively agreed today at the scheduled meeting with its other two partners, Endesa and Naturgy.

The president of Iberdrola, Ignacio Galán, said it yesterday in Hinojosa del Valle, during the act protocolcario of the placement of the first photovoltaic panel of the large plant that between the terms of Usagre (790 hectares) and Hinojosa itself (210), in the southeast of Pacense. There is no turning back on its path in the short and medium term for renewable energies instead of others such as those generated from coal or nuclear power plants.

Extremadura is going to be the territory with the most renewable projects developed by the company in the next three years because in the whole of Spain it is foreseen the start-up of 3,000 megawatts of clean energy and the region will account for 2,000. These 3,000 MW represent 8,000 million investment. "Today is a great day. The fruit of a job and a commitment to Extremadura and renewable energies, "claimed Galán.
