Campo Arañuelo III in Cáceres, the socially and environmentally responsible photovoltaic park

07 gen. 2023

Iberdrola has been awarded the Seal of Excellence for Sustainability by the Spanish Photovoltaic Union (UNEF) for its Campo Arañuelo III park, located in the province of Cáceres. This distinction, created in 2020, recognises good practices in the Spanish photovoltaic sector.

The projects that achieve this distinction demonstrate that there is no source of energy generation more integrated with the territory, biodiversity and citizens than solar energy. UNEF is the first organisation in the world to have designed its own system for certifying the sustainability of photovoltaic installations.

The 40 MW Campo Arañuelo III solar plant is located in the Cáceres municipality of Romangordo and is the first photovoltaic project in Spain to incorporate a storage system. The facility is part of the Campo Arañuelo complex, located in the region of Almaraz, made up of the Arañuelo I and II photovoltaic plants, which have an installed capacity of 143 MW and will prevent the emission of 41,000 t CO2/year into the atmosphere.
